OH/Rusty's story
Introducing rough and rowdy RUSTY!! This guy is a terrific senior at age 9 who acts like hes going on 4. Rusty has spent his life as an outdoor kennel dog, owned by an avid hunter. Kennel dog days are over as he loves being with people and other dogs be that in the house, garage, car, yard, etc. Rusty is described by another avid hunter as not as good a hunter as some but he really works hard at it. Rusty came to NBRAN in November, due to the death of his owner, and has since been learning house training (with the help of the other Brittanys and a dog door), basic commands are coming along, even figured out the basement stairs this week, etc. Rusty is a very active boy, LOVES to run and jump. In the field, he is so graceful, but in the house, hes a bit clumsy. Rusty would be best suited to an active owner who enjoys the outdoors and has other dogs. Rusty is very social, tone trained for hunting on a collar and hunts at an approximate 100 yard radius (he thinks the rule applies in the back yard too). His new owner will need to train him for going outside as he currently has nearly full time access to a dog door and fenced yard, we learned a long time ago to never train a Brittany to bark for what they want or the barking will never end. Rusty does not jump fences but he loves to crawl under things and explore the unknown. The cat situation is still a work in progress. If you love Brittanys and their inquisitive, fun loving nature, you will love this guy!  A couple of items relating to health: Rusty has a slightly elevated liver function but the vet is not overly concerned he just needs a quality diet at this time and has a broken canine tooth that will eventually need to be extracted. He has a significant overbite but it doesnt seem to affect him.
If you are interested in this rough around the edges boy, please fill out an application online at http://nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application.  Once your application is received, the coordinator in the state in which you live will be in touch to follow-up regarding your interest in Rusty.  Need to reach your State Coordinator?  Find the contact information here: http//nbran.org/about/state-provincial-coordinators .
Rusty's adoption fee is $200.00, which will help NBRAN cover the vetting costs and other expenses associated with Bringing a Brit like Rusty back to good health and readying them for adoption.  Don't live in OH or close by?  No Problem!  NBRAN has a wonderful transport team who will help bring Rusty to his new family, up to 1400 miles with the adoptive family being responsible for the last 100 miles, at no additional cost.  Still have questions?  Contact Vivian Stevenson at grtpyrlover@gmail.com .  Thank you!
