10724 Gypsy's story
Hello everyone, it's me Gypsy! I am approximately a 3 year old spayed female Pit Bull Terrier mix. I was brought into the shelter almost 2 months ago in desperate need of medical care after my puppies were taken away from me and sold illegally at just 6 weeks old. After my puppies were taken my owners gave me away because they no longer wanted/ had use for me anymore. Shortly after my puppies were taken from me I developed a very severe case of Mastitis as well as Pneumonia and was suffering from a tremendous amount of pain from my infections and to top everything off I was emaciated. Luckily I arrived at the shelter before I succumbed to my infections and was immediately put on a treatment plan that slowly but surely saved my life. My mastitis had gotten so bad that my mammary glands began to abscess from being so engorged and infected. I was hooked up to IVs and was placed on quite a few different antibiotics and pain medications with round the clock care for 2 weeks straight. Finally, I was feeling well enough to go into a foster home where I could continue to heal until I was ready for adoption. After what seems like the longest month and a half of my life I am finally feeling and looking fabulous. My foster family is absolutely in love with me and wishes they could keep me forever but they have devoted their hearts to fostering other animals in need like me. As a result of my traumatic past I am very leery of new people ( especially men) and it takes me some time for me to warm up and trust now. I am searching for a loving, patient family who is willing to help me gain the confidence and trust I once had in people. My new owner will have to be prepared for several weeks of me being pretty reactive( barking) at new people and things that may startle me until I settle in and get comfortable. Once comfortable I am the sweetest most loyal companion you could ever meet and I LOVE to cuddle. I get along great with most other dogs and kitties too but I am searching for an adult only home as children make me very nervous/anxious. I am kennel trained, house broken and know quite a few basic commands but my leash manners are still a work in progress. If you have the room in your heart and your home for a wonderful companion who needs a little extra patience and TLC please contact the shelter at

and/or submit an application for pre-approval in order to meet me.
Adoption Fee $150.00
